National Tree Planting Day is 28th November
This is per hedge tree plus rabbit guard and cane, also management and replacement if needed over its first 2 years
We are currently looking at planting quite an area if we are able to with funding, but we have land that is not in stewardship and won’t be entitled to any funding this coming year
We are offering a chance to donate a native tree or a metre of native hedging. We will be limited on amount of trees as there are spaced at 30mtrs to encourage a full canopy in their long life cycle from the list of trees below.
We will plant and manage the tree establishment and give you a grid reference once planted. Not sure how we would go having you plant your own tree during Covid conditions so we are happy to do the hard work. This will all help towards the 5 million trees wanted to be planted in Norfolk.
Also, going forward we would happily put up nest boxes for song birds and owls and will happily accept any to place around the farm no money donations please. We put a wild bird feed budget in before Covid and have kept this up and think there is a small increase in song birds in our hedges which is really nice to see and hear.
We are hoping to expand on that going forward with more areas left and more feeding undertaken, but it all takes time and a lot of work so hoping in the long run will make a difference.
